A WEEKEND IN THE FOREST WITH CRAIG CHEE AND SARAH MAISEL -JULY 13 – 15th
We’re incredibly excited to welcome announce that Craig Chee and Sarah Maisel will be returning to the forest for a very special weekend of ukulele teaching. Craig and Sarah last visited us in October last year and everyone fell in love with their beautiful music, skillful playing and amazing personalities. Now they’re back and this time for something even more special.
The weekend will be your chance to hang out, get to know and learn from two of the best ukulele players around. You’ll take part in many small group lessons with both Craig and Sarah, hang out with the duo and celebrate Sarah’s birthday with a special lunch, enjoy a buffet dinner at a gorgeous pub in the heart of the Forest followed by a concert by Craig and Sarah.
As well as the many hours of expert tuition the ticket price also includes a concert, special Saturday buffet lunch and warm evening buffet dinner at The Miners Arms. Accommodation is not included but please see the list of local inns and hotels (my own personal recommendation is The Farmers Boy at Longhope – see below.)
Tickets are £175 and first come first served – available by clicking the link below where you can pay via paypal or all major credit and debit cards. Tickets are also available from The Uke Room where you can pay by cash or card.

To say thanks we’re offering 15% off the ticket price below to anyone attending the Retreat. Please get in touch before purchasing tickets and I’ll apply the discount for you.
The rough itinerary for the weekend is as follows:
Friday evening –
Meet and greet at The Miners Arms – Come and meet Craig and Sarah at their favourite Forest pub – The Miners Arms. We’ll jam from our very own songbook and have a warm and friendly open mic later on where we’ll celebrate how the ukulele brings people together.
Morning classes at the Uke Room: You’ll have classes with both Craig and Sarah who will teach you a wide range of ukulele skills and take your playing to a new level. Craig and Sarah are brilliant teachers, experienced at delivering fun engaging lessons and workshops to students around the world.
The workshops include Ukulele bootcamp, Life after the 3rd fret, Shaping your sound, Intro to jazz, Intro to theory, Beginning chord melody, Hawaii Aloha.
The Uke Room is a great place to learn. As well as the classrooms, we also have tea rooms, gift shops and not forgettting The Uke Room’s incredible stock of ukuleles to peruse, including KoAloha, Pono, Kala, Magic Fluke, Risa, Lanikai, Baton Rouge and many more, as well as a wide range of accessories and sheet music.
Birthday lunch! As it is Sarah’s birthday weekend we’ll be celebrating with a communal buffet lunch provided by the excellent Cookery School on site. If the sun is shining you can also wander the grounds, enjoy a walk through the orchards and relax by the pond. (All dietary requirements are catered for. Please let us know if you have any special requirements.) This is all included in the price of your ticket.
Afternoon lessons at the Uke Room: After lunch it’s time for some more learning and heaps of fun.
Evening buffet and concert at The Miners Arms: In the evening we’re relocating just a few miles down the road to the Miners Arms at Whitecroft. There we’ll all hang out for an evening buffet (included in your ticket price.) After lots of delicious food you can sit and relax as Craig and Sarah take to the stage and entertain us with an evening of wonderful ukulele and song.
Sunday – Lesson finale and Hawaii Aloha: After a final lesson at The Uke Room you’ll learn to sing Hawaii Aloha – a very special song that ends major events in Hawaii. It will be a very special communal moment and we’ll finish with a group photo outside.
