PAUL MANSELL AND TONY MIZEN – IN CONCERT – SATURDAY 29th FEBRUARY 2pm
We’re delighted to welcome not one but two incredible ukulele players to The Uke Room for their debut concert as a duet. Both Paul and Tony are brilliant arrangers and teachers as well as performers and have had several acclaimed ukulele books published.
Tony Mizen is the author of several well known ukulele books including ‘From lute to Uke’, ‘The Baroque Ukulele’ and ‘The Romantic Ukulele’. He edited two books for the world famous guitarist Milos – Play Guitar with Milos (books 1 & 2) published by Schott. He was the first ukulele player in England to achieve the VCM diploma on Ukulele. Tony has recently been working with the American composer, Jim Beloff on his two ukulele concertos.
Paul Mansell is the author of ‘Classical Uke’ and ‘Ukulele School’ both published by Kevin Mayhew Ltd. He was the first ukulele player ever to grace the front cover of BMG Magazine. Paul has an Honours diploma on the ukulele from the VCM and his first book is now on the VCM syllabus for ukulele grades.
Tony and Paul have recently teamed up to write a book of ukulele duets together called 2kulele, which is due to be published by Kevin Mayhew Ltd early in 2020. It features 22 classical duets for the ukulele by composers such as Carulli, Mozart and John Dowland as well as modern compositions by Paul and Tony themselves.
This is the first time Paul and Tony have ever performed in concert together. They will be playing all of the book 2kulele as well as some other exciting duets.
