We’ve been so lucky of late to have some incredible high end custom ukuleles come into the shop and this beauty is no exception. John S Kinnard is a master ukulele based near San Diego, California. His ukes are renowned for being meticulously well crafted with an attention to detail and beautiful tone. You’d need to get on his wait list to get one and the base price of his ukuleles is $3150.
What I love about this one is that it’s just so classic. It reminds me of sone of the custom builds by Martin when they were still making some of the best ukuleles. It is understated but with really crisp clean lines. This one features a redwood top and mahogany back and sides. Redwood gives a lush warm tone and this is complimented by the traditional bite of mahogany for the back and sides. It is incredibly light, helped by the Pegheds tuners that look just like vintage friction pegs but are in fact wonderful geared tuners.
It also had a slight radius to the fretboard which makes playing it incredibly comfortable, made from ebony as is the faceplate and bridge.
This is pre-owned and you can see the top has glossed up top end from use during strumming. This is purely cosmetic and there is no damage anywhere on the uke.
This is a rare opportunity in the U.K. and someone will grab themselves a beautiful heirloom instrument here.
