Description
This is a very very special one of a kind custom tenor that I picked up in Hawaii. It features an all solid beautiful flamed tiger maple body which gives the uke a really wonderful warm, open, woody tone with great articulation. I’ve really grown to love maple so much recently. Two of my all time favourite custom ukes feature this wood. People think of it as a bright sounding wood but good quality luthiers know how to use it to produce a lush warm tone with heaps of bass response.
There are heaps of special custom features on this one including a five piece maple and ebony satin finished neck (which is so smooth and tactile that it feels amazing in the hand), a scoop cutaway, bevelled ebony armrest, and a side sound port. Even the bridge pins were specially made by Kanile’a to match the ebony binding.
Another thing that makes this one really special is that it features a radiused fretboard to make playing barre chords especially a breeze. This is a very rare feature to find in Kanile’as – even in their custom models.
This is a one off heirloom quality instrument that will bring joy for years to come.
