Description
We’re lucky enough to get a new batch of these really cool Islander tenors in. They fulfil that perfect gap where people don’t necessarily want to spend a lot to get something with solid wood (these are laminate) but they want something that looks and plays beautifully from one of our favourite and most trusted builders. The build quality on these for a circa £200 uke is superb with smooth edges, a neat finish, quality geared tuners, pin bridge and really nice attention to detail like quality rosettes and binding.
Like all Kanile’as the Islanders feature a 1.5 inch nut which gives a feeling of room and comfort on the fretboard.
This one has a laminate spruce top and mahogany back and sides with a beautiful abalone rosette. The tone is bright and clear and sounds like something more in keeping with a more expensive instrument.
