I’d been considering getting some of these Mr Mai ukuleles from the Far East for some time. They’re really impressive on the eye. Following some great reviews by respected ukulele sites I took the plunge and I’m so glad I did. They’re amazing ukuleles featuring specs that you’d find on ukuleles three or four times the price. They’re not quite as neat in the finish as say a Kanile’a or KoAloha (you’ll find the odd inconsistency – but barely visible), but they’re really good and not even half the price.
This one is an absolute stunner! Bling bling and more bling. It is a tenor with solid spruce top and beautiful figured laminate maple back and sides – stained a stunning blue. It has a very lovely bevelled armrest for comfort when playing. Other cool features are a very cool cutaway allowing access to the upper frets, geared tuners, unique rosette and very beautiful leaf inlay markers flowing down the fretboard like falling leaves. These are all features normally reserved for boutique instruments.
The solid spruce top gives this uke heaps of volume and a very nice bright tone. The sustain is a excellent and the whole instrument is very responsive – you can feel the vibrations in your chest as you play it.
Incredible value and something really special.
