Description
Martin re-commenced production of soprano ukes in it’s 3 series after a huge hiatus in 2008. Unfortunately in recent years they stopped production of this model again so you don’t see many of these come up anymore. They were made in Nazareth USA, in the main Martin factory and these are a big step up in terms of craftsmanship, materials and end result from their made in Mexico models. I really rate these Nazareth made 3ms. The attention to detail on them is really amazing and they’re true to the 3m style with multi b/w binding, the parend and fretboard inlays for position markers. The mahogany had a very rich deep tone and it plays like a dream. The friction pegs are butter smooth and easy to tune with.
The only negative about these more modern 3ms is that they pretty much all had a problem with the binding delaminating. This one has been repaired by a luthier but you can see a sheen from where the finish was smoothed afterwards and there is a slight gap in the binding at the bout (all photographed.)
This one comes with a beautiful bespoke Martin hard shell case.
