Description
We’ve got three very special ukuleles in from Nestoe Guillermo Fuentes who is a fab builder and great guy from Nicaragua making great customer ukes from local woods. I really love what I’ve seen in these. They have so much character – the cocobolo wood is absolutely stunning (I really mean that – especially under a gloss finish!) and we also have radiused fretboards and side sound ports. The handcrafted details like the bottom mitre are really beautiful. As these are handmade by one guy you will find little inconsistencies like the odd bump in the finish and tool marks, but to me that just adds to the charm. They feel really good in the hand and are an absolute breeze to play with low action and radiused fretboard.
The sound of these is really good. The tone has a real beauty and elegance to it. It isn’t too loud but has a very nice sweetness and clarity. In tone the remind me of Kanile’a if you’ve ever played one of their wonderful ukes. This model features a solid spruce top which gives a lovely bright tone. Brilliant for fingerstyle playing.
