Description
We’re absolutely delighted to stock Phil Davidson ukuleles. For those not already in the know, Phil is world renowned for his luthier skills including building ukuleles, guitars, mandolins, banjos and more. His work is held in very high esteem and we’re lucky enough to have him on our doorstep in The Forest of Dean.
I just picked up two brand new tenors, including this one, and I have to say I think they’re the best Phil has built – just so light and with an incredibly deep tone. They also both feature a beautifully mirror gloss finish. This one has a European spruce top with figured koa back and sides. I’m a massive fan of koa paired with a softwood top and it comes up trumps here. It also features maple binding, a gorgeous abalone rosette, and ebony faceplate, fingerboard and bridge.
Another thing people love about Phil’s ukes are the really slim necks that make playing a real joy and keep the whole uke very light.
As with many luthier made ukes you will find the odd tooling mark here and there but that’s part of the beauty of a unique handmade instrument. To vouch for the quality – I have been buying, collecting and selling ukes for years. Of the all personal instruments I own at home 50% were made by Phil!
This heirloom instrument will bring much enjoyment for years to come.
