Description
This is one of the most impressive ukuleles we’ve had through the store. The tone and volume that this thing produces is out of this world. This is why Phil Davidson had such a loyal and appreciative customer base around the world. We often get customers come into the Uke Room saying they would never pay above a certain amount for a custom uke, play a Davidson, fall in love and go home with it!
This one is built with a maple back and sides and a European spruce top. Maple is often mistaken as a bright wood but I have experienced many time that in the hands of a great luthier is actually produces a deep rich tone and this is one of those. It also features beautiful maple binding, abalone rosette and inlaid headstock logo. The join at the 12th fret puts the bridge in the sweet spot of the body which helps the tone and volume further. The neck has the most incredible flaming to the maple which matches that on the body of the ukulele. It’s gorgeous!!
It is an absolute joy to play and an heirloom instrument. As with all handmade ukes you will find the odd tooling mark here and there but it’s a hand built unique instrument made with love and care.
