We’re incredibly lucky to have one of the best luthiers right here in the Forest of Dean. Phil is hugely respected in the bluegrass and old time community for his fabulous instruments including banjos, mandolins and guitars. His ukes are absolutely second to none. I don’t know how he does it (well I have some idea!) but his ukes have a depth of tone that I’ve not heard in many other places. They all have a real oomph in the bass and mid register especially. When you play them next to your body you can feel the vibrations right through your body! And of course this translates into a really special tone.
This very special soprano is made from beautifully figured lacewood, with a spruce top (that has been given a glorious vintage stain.) It has a mahogany neck and ebony fingerboard and bridge. It features Phil’s logo in abalone and is string with Aquilas.
It is an absolute joy to play, and a one off unique instrument.
