I think this lovely Kamaka soprano dates back to the 70s/80s. It’s hard to be sure as they didn’t use serial numbers or dates at this time. One thing’s for sure though – it’s a beaut! It is totally crack free with just a bit of bellying above the bridge (purely cosmetic and common.) It has the lovely koa fretboard with the wave shape at the bottom. It plays beautifully and has a lot of volume with that classic bright but deep Kamaka tone.
At some point the original tuners have been replaced with Gotoh UPTs (geared tuners that look like friction pegs) that work an dream and two strap pegs. With these changes it sit beautifully between worlds – old vintage history but modern functionality!
It plays well with a very slim fast neck and low action. Comes without a case but will be packed well.
