Description

We’re absolutely delighted to have such an amazing piece of history in store. This Kamaka ‘special concert’ (a soprano by today’s measurements) was built nearly 100 years ago in the late 20s/early 30s. It is constructed of all solid mahogany in the early Portuguese/Hawaiian style with a slim figure 8 body, high soundhole and fretboard flat against the body. It features rope style rosette and binding – all complete.

The pineapple decal is in really good condition and the inner label is still mostly in tact. There is a small stable hairline fracture on near the bridge and obvious patina for its age.

It has been restrung with Worth Brown flurocarbons and..oh…that sound! It had a really deep low punch similar to a vintage Martin but with more resonance in the lower end. It plays so well and has a low action with no buzzing. I guess that’s testament to Kamaka’s amazing standards that this uke still plays beautifully neatly a century after construction!
