Description
Here’s another slice of uke history for you! In the 1950s master luthier Mario Maccaferri, an Italian New Yorker designed the first plastic ukuleles to make playing instruments accessible to millions of Americans. He teamed up with Arthur Godfrey who promoted these on his Saturday night television show and they sold in their millions.
You don’t see them often this side of the pond though and especially not in this good condition with the headstock logo still intact, no cracks and the frets in great condition. The original tuners still work and it even comes with the automatic chord player which is heaps of fun and another snapshot of history. The original elastic to attach it has long gone but elastic bands do the job just fine!
These play and sound a class above their modern imitators.
