VINTAGE MARTIN STYLE 1 SOPRANOS 1950s

£599.00

Description

You can’t beat a vintage Martin if you’re after that classic woody tone reminiscent of the mid-Twentieth century. Style 1 sopranos can be identified by their faux-tortoiseshell (or rosewood) binding. I think it adds a really nice touch of class.

I date this one to the 1950s and it has seen some action over the years. There are several back cracks and one top crack that have been repaired really nice and neatly. There is a bit of bellying on the soundboard too which is very common in these lightly built Martins. I plays really well with a nice low action and beautiful tone. You need to play this one gently though or you’ll get a slight buzzing from the low action.

Unusually this one comes with it’s original canvas case, which is like a little snapshot of history in itself.
