Description
Now for something really cool! This solid body electric uke was made by Paul Barnard of Wildcat Ukes. If you’ve seen any of my listings of his ukuleles you’ll know that I’m a big fan!
This is an unusual project for Paul, but he started making guitars so he really does know what he’s doing. The solid wood body is made from Tasmanian Blackwood (very similar looking to koa) and reclaimed American mahogany. It is fitted with a really nice 4 wire Almuse aggressor humbucker pickup made in the U.K. by Peter Mallinson. It gives a really forward sounding attack to the tone – amazing for shredding those solos!
Its a joy to play, especially with the radius fretboard, which makes even the toughest bar chords much easier. It is strung with the top four strings of a guitar but tuned GCEA so you can play it just like a normal uke.
Paul originally made this cool and electric uke for himself so there are sone minimal signs of playwear – most notable some shallow scratches on the back. The front specially still looks amazing though!
