SATURDAY 24th MARCH – GUEST TUTOR – PETER MOSS

BLUE SKIES AND ROCK N’ ROLL

WORKSHOP AND CONCERT

peter mossPeter is a professional, international Ukulele performer and workshop presenter, involved in playing ukulele for 45 years. His performances are quite unique covering many styles incorporating the ukulele, banjolele and vocal. A respected teacher and performer, his music has gained him notoriety in the ukulele world and he has even appeared on BBC Television.

Peter, an experienced workshop tutor, will be presenting two hour long workshops, followed by a short concert.

NOT A CLOUD IN THE SKY – Based on the ever popular song Blue Skies. This song lends itself to some really nice chord progressions containing harmony run downs. Not only will you learn the chord sequence, I will help to train your ear to pick out certain notes within the chords. Added to that I will include a key change and an introduction and an ending, to give you a concert piece to take away.

A ROCK & ROLL FUN SHOP – A medley of 4 classic tunes from the era, that is sure to get your foot tapping and put a smile on your face. It progress through 4 different keys and involves 2 part vocals in the last song. It is written in 2 stages of difficulty with some nice chord substitutions if you are up to it. Whether you play the easier or technical version, it all fits together so everyone can come to the party.

We’re incredibly excited to welcome James Hill, one of the very best ukulele players and teachers on the planet, to The Uke Room to deliver this exciting 90 minute workshop.

Lyricism and Line: How to Make the Ukulele Sing
(Intermediate)
Explore the lyrical side of the ukulele.  In this workshop students learn to play chord-melody arrangements of beautiful melodies such as Spring Song (Mendelsohnn), Slumber Song (Schubert) and Streets of Laredo (Trad.).  Discover subtleties of left-hand fingering and right-hand fingerpicking and how these can make (or break) the lyrical qualities of the music.  A workshop full of musical delights and ukulele insights.
