I’m a big fan of the late 50s, early 60s vintage Martins. A lot of people go for their earlier ukes but these are so well made and the neck is that little bit chunkier like a more modern build – they just feel so good to play. This one is in really excellent condition with no cracks or issues at all. The frets are in great condition and it plays like a dream with that lovely warm Martin sound from all solid aged mahogany.
The style 1s are bound with really nice faux tortoiseshell. I think it looks great which is probably why I have more Style 1s than any other model (despite many more style 0s being made.) It features original friction pegs that still work smoothly and a vintage faux alligator case. An absolute delight.
